Mapping returns to Caseworks Anti Social Behaviour Module!
After an absence of ten years, since MapPoint was abandoned my Microsoft, mapping is coming back to Caseworks, and will soon be available in all Caseworks Modules - Anti Social Behaviour, Estate Management, Mediation, Domestic Abuse and Tenancy Support. The first step in this come-back, is to ensure that all of the properties in the Gazetteer have their “Geo Coordinates”. This is Latitude and Longitude (for international GIS software) and Eastings and Northings for British OS Survey maps. Many of these addresses have been keyed in by Users over the years, and have no coordinates. The HUBSolutions Team has had a breakthrough with this, and in partnership with geoapify.com has succeeded in coding from scratch a whole database of 4,500 addresses which were previously not coded. The process of repeatedly making calls to https://www.geoapify.com took 48 hours, but the result was well worth it!
The mapping facility has now been restored to all the ASB and DV systems hosted by HUBSolutions.
The immediate benefits to users are:-
Within the Case History screen, there is now a Map Button, which allows the user to view all of the Victims, Offenders and Incidents within a Case (colour coded) on a popup Bing Map. They can instantly see just how close the protagonists are from each other, and how far the area is from shops, parks etc.
The Reports produced from the system in Excel which include People or Incidents will now have the Latitude/Longitude Eastings and Northings embedded in the downloaded data. This data will be easy to import into the Council’s GIS (Geographic Information System) for detailed analysis of where Incidents and People are, the hot spots, the distribution of different types of Incident and the changes in distribution over time.
But it wont stop there!!
We are now working on using a web based mapping product to give you all that functionality at very little cost and very little expertise within Caseworks. Watch this space!
